Mountain filling
The process of rock filling serves the public security. After discontinuation of the potash exploitation in Bleicherode, one was thinking about the rock filling with stowing materials on basis of foreign waste to mining.
With the purchase of the mine Bleicherode through the NDH Entsorgungsbetreibergesellschaft mbH (NDH-E) in 1996 the begun activities were continued and advanced technical as well as technological. In the year 2008 the mine Sollstedt was bought. With the existing facilities, an acceptance capacity of stowing materials foreign to mining, not less then 300.000 tones per year are guaranteed. The acceptance guaranty is reaching far into the next decade.
Mound or heap recultivation
A 100-year-old mining activity left remains in the form of a truncated cone waste dump 100-m-high with mud ponds and ash deposits on a total area of 50 ha. The light-dissolvable salts are washed out by the precipitation. Because the waste dump has no base sealing, the salt solutions seep and reach into the ground water.
The cover and greening of the waste dump "biological sealing" occurs through an innovative method. Hazardous waste types are not used for it, and therefore the precipitation’s entry into the remains results in the salt solution being clearly minimised.
Miner's association
The miner's association "Glückauf" Bleicherode e.V. was founded as a traditional association in June, 1996 and modelled after the miner's association "Glückauf" Bleicherode, which was founded in 1900.
Benefits of being a member of the association are the friendly living environment as well as the preservation of the miner's traditions. The collection and preservation of the miners' equipment and factual information are also important.
